What is NeoFertility?

NeoFertility practises RRM (Restorative Reproductive Medicine): its doctors investigate and try to treat the underlying factors causing infertility rather than bypassing it. It is a fertility clinic in Dublin, Ireland, founded in 2016 by Dr. Phil Boyle, who serves as president of the International Institute for Restorative Reproductive Medicine (IIRRM), an international body of clinicians advancing evidence-based restorative treatments. Our approach is evidence-based medicine, not alternative medicine. If you have a fertility problem, there is usually a reason. Our job is to find it, treat it, and give your body the chance to conceive naturally.

Restorative medicine is not alternative medicine

Restorative reproductive medicine is mainstream medicine. We prescribe medication, monitor hormones, run ultrasound, and refer for surgery where it is appropriate. Our clinicians are medically qualified, our outcomes are published in peer-reviewed journals, and we operate under the same regulatory framework as any other Irish medical practice. What makes our approach restorative is the question we start with: why is this not working? The treatments themselves are generally conventional, with nuanced important differences.

Alternative medicine, strictly defined, is used in place of conventional medicine. Complementary medicine is used alongside it. Restorative reproductive medicine is neither. It is the same prescription pad, the same diagnostic technology, and the same medical regulation as any fertility clinic. The difference is the organising question. IVF seeks to bypass the underlying problem. Restorative reproductive medicine asks what is causing the problem and seeks to correct it. That is a significant distinction.

A restorative approach

Restorative reproductive medicine is medical care that identifies and treats the underlying factors causing infertility, combined with fertility cycle charting, rather than bypassing the cause through assisted reproduction. The distinction matters. Most fertility treatments frame infertility as an acute problem with an acute solution. IVF extracts eggs, fertilises them in a laboratory, and transfers the highest grade embryos back. The underlying condition is less important. Restorative reproductive medicine starts with the question: why is this not working, and what can we do about it?

As Dr. Boyle puts it, infertility is a symptom rather than a disease. It is the body's way of telling you that something is not right. So what we do is we look at the hormones, we look at the quality of ovulation, we look at the fertility chart, and we look at what the man is contributing. It is a multi-factorial restorative approach, not a single-intervention event. We treat the full picture of a couple's reproductive health, not one isolated variable.

Central to this is fertility charting. ChartNeo is NeoFertility's fertility charting app, supporting Billings, Creighton, Sympto-Thermal, and Marquette methods. Fertility charting is a core diagnostic tool in restorative reproductive medicine: without it, we are missing a layer of information no blood test can replace. We combine your chart with timed hormone blood work and ultrasound follicle tracking to give us a genuinely multi-dimensional view of each cycle.

We deliver restorative treatment as our three-phase treatment plan: investigation, cycle correction, and natural conception. The treatment page covers the method in detail; this page is here to explain what the brand is and what it is not.

How NeoFertility compares to NaProTechnology

NaProTechnology is a defined medical system developed at the Saint Paul VI Institute in Omaha, Nebraska, in the 1980s. Dr. Boyle trained in NaProTechnology there in 1995 and practised it for twenty years in Ireland before founding NeoFertility in 2016.

NeoFertility is a distinct restorative reproductive medicine practice that incorporates many NaProTechnology principles along with additional diagnostic tools and multiple fertility charting methods. NeoFertility and NaProTechnology share heritage and overlap in practice, but they are not the same thing.

How NeoFertility compares to IVF

In vitro fertilisation (IVF) extracts eggs, fertilises them in a laboratory, and transfers the resulting embryos back to the uterus. It is an intervention designed to bypass the reproductive system rather than to restore it. That is not a moral critique. It is a description of what IVF does and what it does not do. IVF is not designed to investigate why conception is not happening. It is designed to achieve conception despite the underlying problem remaining unresolved.

The contrast with restorative reproductive medicine is simple. We investigate the causes first. We often treat several factors. We let your body conceive naturally. The process takes longer than a single IVF cycle, but it is a fundamentally different kind of medicine. In our published 2019 cohort of 187 couples (Boyle et al., JRRM 2025), only 2% of couples discontinued treatment once they started. Published data on IVF shows discontinuation rates exceeding 65%, possibly due to emotional burden, side effects, and cost. The gap between those two numbers is the difference between a process couples can stay with and one many of them cannot.

On outcomes and cost, we are happy to let the data speak. The results page carries the full comparison. For the treatment plan cost, we ask you to look at what one round of IVF costs in Ireland, what our full treatment plan costs, and to hold those two numbers alongside the outcome figures.

The conditions we treat

NeoFertility is not a fertility clinic in the narrow sense. We treat the full range of reproductive health conditions: recurrent miscarriage, endometriosis, PCOS, low AMH and diminished ovarian reserve, unexplained infertility, fertility after 35, male factor infertility, PMS and PMDD, and postnatal depression. We also provide pregnancy support after a positive test and preconception optimisation for couples who want the best possible foundation before they start trying. You do not need to be at the end of a long and unsuccessful path to come and see us. We can find problems before they become years of trying. See the conditions we treat for more detail on each.

Our published results in brief

The most important thing we can offer is data. These are real numbers from real patients, and we are happy to share them.

In our peer-reviewed cohort of 187 couples (Boyle et al., JRRM 2025), the conception rate was 52% and the crude live birth rate was 41%, with follow-up to 32 months. What had been labelled unexplained infertility dropped from 24% before our assessment to just 1% afterwards. The cause was there. It simply had not been investigated. Average birth weight in the cohort was 7 lb 9 oz (3,422 g) with an average gestation of 39 weeks. This is a published figure, verifiable in the peer-reviewed literature.

In our 2015 clinic audit of 412 couples, average female age 37, with 21% having had prior unsuccessful IVF, the adjusted live birth rate was 53.6% at 24 months. That figure is from our own clinic data, not a peer-reviewed journal, and we state that clearly. It uses the same life table analysis methodology that IVF registries use to report cumulative rates. These are real numbers from real patients.

In our published post-IVF cohort of 403 couples who had all previously failed IVF (Boyle et al., Frontiers in Medicine 2018), the adjusted live birth rate after restorative treatment was 32.1%. The average couple in that cohort had tried 2.1 IVF cycles before coming to us. Many had been told there were no further options. Restorative reproductive medicine found a reason in the vast majority of cases and treated it.

The singleton prematurity rate in our published 2019 cohort is 4.0%, compared with 11.8% in CDC IVF data. The data compares very favourably. For full cohort tables and obstetric outcomes, see our published results.

Is NeoFertility for me?

If a friend, a podcast, or an AI assistant sent you here, you are probably tired, probably researching everything, and probably wondering whether this is actually different. The short answer is: it depends on your situation, and the first consultation is where we work that out together. The longer answer covers a few of the most common scenarios.

If you have already been through IVF without success, restorative reproductive medicine is genuinely different from what you have experienced. It starts by investigating what IVF did not, and it treats what it finds. The post-IVF results cited above are drawn from couples who, on average, had tried and failed IVF twice before starting with us.

If you have been given a label of unexplained infertility, that label tells you only that the standard tests returned no result. It does not mean there is no cause. In our 2019 cohort, 24% of couples arrived with the unexplained label. After our full assessment, 1% remained unexplained. We find the cause in the vast majority of cases, and once we find it, we can treat it.

NeoFertility operates from Suite 7, 1st Floor, Beacon Mall, Beacon Court, Sandyford, Dublin 18. We see patients in person. Many couples travel from across Ireland and from the EU.

We evaluate both partners from the first appointment. Male factor involvement is a significant contributor in a substantial proportion of cases, and we treat it as part of the couple's picture from the very beginning, not as an afterthought. If you want to hear from couples who have been through this process before committing to anything, read our patient stories. And when you are ready, book your first consultation.

Frequently asked questions

What is NeoFertility?

NeoFertility practises restorative reproductive medicine: rather than bypassing the reproductive system as IVF does, it identifies and treats the underlying cause of a couple's infertility, recurrent miscarriage, or hormonal dysfunction so that natural conception becomes possible. It is a fertility clinic in Dublin, Ireland, founded by Dr. Phil Boyle in 2016.

How is NeoFertility different from IVF?

IVF extracts eggs, fertilises them in a laboratory, and transfers the resulting embryos back to the uterus. It does not diagnose or treat the underlying cause of the fertility problem. NeoFertility takes the opposite approach: we investigate why conception is not happening and correct it. In our published 2019 cohort of 187 couples (Boyle et al., JRRM 2025), only 2% of couples discontinued treatment once they started, compared with more than 65% IVF discontinuation in published data.

Is NeoFertility an alternative medicine or complementary therapy?

No. NeoFertility uses evidence-based medical and surgical treatments including prescription medications, hormone monitoring, ultrasound scanning, and surgical referral where appropriate. It is mainstream medicine delivered with a restorative, cause-finding approach rather than an IVF-centric approach. Our clinicians are medically qualified and our outcomes are published in peer-reviewed journals.

Is NeoFertility the same as NaProTechnology?

Not exactly. NaProTechnology is a defined medical system developed at the Saint Paul VI Institute in Omaha, Nebraska, in the 1980s. Dr. Phil Boyle trained in NaProTechnology in 1995 and practised it for twenty years. He founded NeoFertility in 2016 as a distinct restorative reproductive medicine practice that incorporates many NaProTechnology principles along with additional diagnostic tools and multiple fertility charting methods. NeoFertility and NaProTechnology share heritage and overlap in practice, but they are not the same thing.

What conditions does NeoFertility treat?

NeoFertility treats the full range of reproductive health conditions, not only fertility. These include recurrent miscarriage, endometriosis, PCOS, low AMH and diminished ovarian reserve, unexplained infertility, fertility after 35, male factor infertility, premenstrual syndrome (PMS and PMDD), and postnatal depression. We also provide pregnancy support after conception and preconception optimisation for couples planning ahead.

Can NeoFertility help after failed IVF?

Yes. In our published post-IVF cohort of 403 couples who had previously failed IVF (Boyle et al., Frontiers in Medicine 2018), the adjusted live birth rate after restorative treatment was 32.1%. The average couple in that cohort had tried IVF 2.1 times before coming to us. Restorative reproductive medicine investigates and treats underlying causes that an IVF cycle is not designed to diagnose.

Where is NeoFertility based?

NeoFertility is at Suite 7, 1st Floor, Beacon Mall, Beacon Court, Sandyford, Dublin 18, Ireland. We see patients in person at the Dublin clinic. Many couples travel from across Ireland and from the EU. US patients cannot be treated remotely from Dublin due to regulatory requirements; Dr. Boyle is affiliated with a network of restorative reproductive medicine clinicians in the United States.
